Chasing the Trend
( without losing yourself in it )
I love watching what happens on the runway during couture fashion week. Those shows are where the real creative minds get to play — no limits, no compromises, just pure imagination. And what's fascinating is watching what happens next: those ideas don't stay locked away in Paris or Milan. They start to cascade. Designers translate the boldest runway moments into ready-to-wear. Manufacturers pick up on the colors, the silhouettes, the textures, and bring them down into pieces we can actually buy and wear. It's like a pyramid — the wildest, most avant-garde ideas at the top slowly filter down into your favorite boutique, your closet, your everyday life.
Never let a trend make you feel bad about yourself.
As a stylist, I love being part of that process. I love trend-shopping for my clients — digging in, doing the research, figuring out which pieces from a season's trends are worth bringing into someone's wardrobe. It's genuinely fun. There's something energizing about finding a color or a silhouette that's having a moment and figuring out how to make it feel like you.
But here's the caveat, and it's a big one: never let a trend make you feel bad about yourself. If a color washes you out, if a cut doesn't work with your body, if a silhouette just isn't you — skip it. No shame, no spiral. Trends are a tool, not a test. The goal was never to wear everything on the runway. It's to take what serves you and leave the rest. That's the difference between being a slave to trends and actually embracing them.
